Grow Up and Change the World
© 2002 words & music by Ellen Bukstel Segal
This is hard for me my babies - I’m trying to be strong
You three are the reasons I hung on for so long
You were the foundation for my will to stay alive
But the saddest part of knowing that I was going to die

My baby girl when you were two you used to shout out loud
“Watch me daddy” and then you’d be silly - I wish I could watch you now
And when your are old enough to remember that I
Your father loved you and was so proud to have you in my life

Grow up and change the world, be there for your friends
Love each other and as you grow, learn to make amends
Grow up and change the world, the truth will be your guide
And when you’re older you will know, I’ll always be by your side

My baby boys you are brothers - stay close and be true
Your brother is the one person who will always be there for you
You really can’t imagine how wonderful that can be
Don’t ever let that change - I know - my brother was there for me

Grow up and change the world, and some day you will see
Success is truly measured, by your integrity
Grow up and change the world, grow up and be strong
I’m writing you this letter, to remember me when I am gone

Time and life for each of you will go on without me
So I leave to you my children..this written legacy

Grow up and change the world
Grow up and change the world
Grow up and change the world
Grow up..... and change the world
